Identity Theft Chat is a collection of real stories from real people who have had their identities stolen.

It’s a sad fact that every year more and more people find that their identities were stolen by someone with ill intentions.  One day everything is fine, then suddenly you find that “you” bought a car in Idaho along with 12 tickets to Las Vegas.  Your credit takes a hit and for the next several months (or years) you spend your time trying to repair your credit and restore your image.

The purpose of this site is to show just how common identity theft is.  Too many people think that identity theft won’t happen to them. The people who are kind enough to share their stories with us know that this isn’t the case – you do not have to be particularly reckless or careless to have your identity stolen.  You just have to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
